My Travel Buddy… The Anniversary Escapade

It’s so great to travel. It can relax and refresh your mind from any chaos of the real world complexity. According to Lin Yutang, no one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.

Traveling is not our passion. However, we always look at it as our happiness and a way of discovering each other more as a couple. Lewis Caroll said “actually, the best gift you could have given her was a lifetime of adventures”. We may not have the luxury to travel frequently but we make it a point to bond and recharge on our wedding anniversary. This documentation was our escapade in Bohol, the friendly heart of the Visayas and one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the Philippines.

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.” Bill Bryson

We were excited to visit the place we knew we could create amazing and delightful memories to share with. As mentioned by James Cameron, I’m a storyteller; that’s what exploration really is all about. Going to places where others haven’t been and returning to tell a story they haven’t heard before.

As soon as we arrived at the port of Tagbilaran City, we asked our driver to take us to the floating restaurant at the Loboc River for our lunch. The Loboc River is one of the major tourist destinations of Bohol. It is indeed one of the cleanest rivers in the country. We enjoyed our food during the entire one hour river cruise as we were also serenaded by their famous Loboc Children’s Choir.

After our lunch, we stopped at the Baclayon Church. It is a Roman Catholic Church and one of the oldest churches in the Philippines.  That was our first visit actually after it was hit by a strongest earthquake on 2013 October. The church was still under reconstruction then.

We have finally reached our destination late afternoon that day. We have checked in at the South Palms Resort in Panglao.

We aggressively traveled within the country before. We’ve been to Boracay, Tacloban City, Dahilayan Forest Park in Bukidnon, Butuan City, Ilo-ilo City and even some parts of Cebu Province. This tour was also a different experience to treasure for life with hubby.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

A romantic dinner was served at the Oceanica Seafood Restaurant. Theirs was a bit classy yet the food was excellent as well as their service.

On our second day, we started roaming around earlier and beautifully captured the scenic view of the resort. It was truly wonderful. Life has to be totally enjoyed for life is so short to dwell on things that are unworthy of your time. Keep loving and keep living.

It is nice finding that place where you can just go and relax. Moises Arias

When we got married in 2008, it was not only because we were both madly in love but for the reason that we undoubtedly agreed to build our dreams together, decided to face our struggles together, to unconditionally love and understand each other when we are in our tough situations, to adjust a lot more and to be patient as we journey through life. We may not that fortunate enough to have a child, as of this writing, but we believe that everything happens for a reason.

“I’m completely happy not having children. I mean, everybody does not have to live in the same way. And as somebody said, ‘Everybody with a womb doesn’t have to have a child any more than everybody with vocal cords has to be an opera singer.” —Gloria Steinem

This June 2018 will mark a decade of our marriage with my travel buddy. And a celebration of our 15 years of togetherness.🥂

Who doesn’t deserve a grand vacation?😉

Traveling – it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. Lbn Battuta

Planning for our big day soon.😍
